A gastronomical jewel
shines with a new brilliance
as well as international guests will find a new place of culinary delights
located right in the centre of the famous Old Town of Heidelberg with its
winding streets and alleys.
In an inconsiderable, heritage-protected building at Ingrimstraße, less than 2 minutes by foot away from the famous market place and the Heiliggeistkirche (Church of the Holy Spirit), slumbers a gastronomical jewel inside the corner house with the number 16, which shines with a new brilliance since March 2017.
Here, Felix Kersten creates a an extraordinary and intensively aromatic cuisine with French influences. He prides itself on fresh ingredients and careful cooking, and the dishes really are a feast for the eyes. For this, he is using almost entirely high quality products from regional providers.
Many years ago, the Simplicissimus was one of the leading gastronomical highlights of Heidelberg. Family Lummer ran the restaurant for 27 years, in 1987 Johann Lummer has been awarded the first Michelin star in Heidelberg and thus made gourmet history.
Felix Kersten and his team have a cleared defined vision: with the perfect mixture of a creative and ambitious cuisine as well as with an excellent service and finest wines, in the near future the Simplicissimus will rank among the best restaurant of the city.
